Frank Joseph - Founder of WunderTech

I've been building and breaking home labs for over a decade. You might know me as @WunderTechTutorials on YouTube.

Frank Joseph, Founder of WunderTech

I run WunderTech — and I write every article on it. No ghostwriters, no AI articles. If a tutorial is on this site, it's because I actually ran the thing on hardware I own, and usually broke it a few times first.

I've been working in corporate IT for over 15 years, focused on enterprise, networking, virtualization, application management, and storage. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and an MBA. Honestly though, most of what ends up on WunderTech comes from the home lab I've been building and rebuilding for years.

What I actually run

Every tutorial on this site gets tested on real hardware before it goes live. My current home lab includes a Synology DS925+, a Ubiquiti UNAS Pro 8, a DIY 110TB TrueNAS server I built (8 cores, 128GB ECC RAM, dual 25GbE NICs, 10 hot-swap bays), two UGREEN NAS devices (running TrueNAS), a Proxmox two-node cluster, and dual video surveillance running Blue Iris and UniFi Protect. That setup is where every Synology, Proxmox, UniFi, TrueNAS, and Docker article on this site originates.

Why trust what's on this site

I've personally owned and configured multiple Synology NAS units, built TrueNAS servers from scratch, run Proxmox clusters in production at home, and deployed UniFi networking across my entire house. When I recommend hardware, it's because I've lived with it. When I write a tutorial, it's because I did the thing, not because I researched how someone else did the thing.

I don't accept payment for positive reviews. Affiliate links appear on this site, but they never determine my recommendations — I link to what I actually use. You can read my full editorial standards and ethics statement, and if you need hands-on help with your own setup, I offer one-on-one consulting.

Beyond the site

I also run the WunderTech YouTube channel, where 90,000+ subscribers watch video versions of these tutorials (12+ million views to date). If you prefer watching to reading, it's all there.
