In this article, we’re going to look at the best POE injectors.

When you set up your network, you had two different options when it came to routers/modems, PoE-supported devices, and non-PoE-supported devices. PoE means power over ethernet, and devices (phones, access points, etc.) can actually be powered by a Switch if it’s PoE-supported. However, if you didn’t buy a PoE Switch, you’ll have to purchase PoE Injector if you’d like to power these devices (or a new switch, which can be more costly).

Before looking at the best PoE injectors, we will take a look at exactly what a PoE injector is.

What is a PoE Injector?

A PoE injector is a device that will allow you to connect a non-PoE switch to a PoE device and power it. It sits in the middle of the switch and the device and comes with a power cable. After the device is plugged into an outlet, then the ethernet cables are plugged in (Switch > PoE Injector > PoE Device), the PoE device will receive power.

This means that you can take any switch that you currently own and power a PoE device. Just keep in mind that you must have power!

When looking at the options below, please make sure that the total power output and distance is sufficient for the device that you’re trying to power!

TP-LINK TL-PoE150S

TP-LINK TL-PoE150S

The TP-LINK TL-PoE150S is a PoE 1GbE injector that will supply 15.4W (PoE) of power at 100M (328 ft.).

Please keep in mind that this device only supports PoE, so if you need to power a device with more than 15.4W, please check out the options below!

TRENDnet TPE-115GI

best poe injectors - TRENDnet TPE-115GI

The TRENDnet TPE-115GI is a 1GbE PoE/PoE+ 1GbE injector that will supply 15.4W (PoE) or 30W (PoE+) at distances up to 100M (328 ft.).

It has a wall mountable design and auto senses the device that it has to power (meaning it will use PoE or PoE+ depending on what device is connected).

TP-LINK TL-PoE170S

TP-LINK TL-PoE170S

The TP-Link TL-PoE170S is a 1GbE PoE/PoE+/PoE++ that delivers up to 60W (PoE++) of power at distances up to 100M (328 ft.).

This device is plug-and-play, meaning that you simply plug it into your switch, then plug the other end into the device (as well as ensuring the injector has power), and it will automatically send PoE power to your device!

TRENDnet TPE-119GI

TRENDnet TPE-119GI

The TRENDnet TPE-119GI is a perfect device for situations where you need a lot of total power. This device is a 1GbE device that supports PoE/PoE+/PoE++, with a total power delivery of 95W (PoE++) at 100M (328 ft.).

If the device you’re trying to power needs close to 95W, this is a great device. However, most devices will require significantly less, meaning you can go with one of the other options above.

iCreatin 2-Port PoE+ Injector

iCreatin 2-Port PoE+ Injector

The iCreatin PoE+ injector is a 2-port PoE+ injector that supports up to 35W of total power. It’s not particularly unique and is a generic PoE injector that can be used up to 100M (328 ft.). However, it does have the benefit of having two PoE injector ports in one device, so if you need to power two PoE devices and will be able to fit it within 35W of total wattage, this is a great device.

Texas WT-AT-4

Texas WT-AT-4

The Texas WT-AT-4 is a device that will give you four PoE ports in an individual PoE injector. This device has a total power delivery of 60W, though it’s limited to 15W per port.

If you already have a Switch that’s fulfilling your requirements, but you’re looking to add PoE devices to it, this is a great option. With that said, depending on requirements, it might make sense to purchase a dedicated PoE switch.

Conclusion – Best PoE Injectors

This article looked at some of the best PoE injectors. A PoE injector is a great option for anyone who needs to power a PoE device and doesn’t have a PoE switch. In cases like this, it’s generally significantly cheaper to buy one or two PoE injectors to fulfill your requirements rather than an entire switch. However, once you get to a point where you’re looking to power three or more devices with PoE, it makes sense to invest in a quality 8-port PoE switch.
